Around Malta

The tour starts in the village of Mosta where we will see the church with one of the largest domes in Europe, and a miraculous story from WWII. Next we will visit the old medieval capital Mdina, and its suburb Rabat. A walk through the winding, silent streets in Mdina, and an optional visit to its Baroque Cathedral, will be followed by a visit to St. Paul’s Grotto. This is where, according to the Bible, St. Paul spent 3 months during his stay in Malta, 3 months which converted the Maltese people to Christianity.

After a stop in the Presidential gardens of San Anton, with a view of its 17th century palace, we will continue on the pristine Blue Grotto. A boat ride will take us through beautiful caves, and crystalline waters. Where better to have lunch in a typical fish restaurant after the boat ride? Turning our attention to the Grand Harbour area, we will go to Malta’s Baroque capital Valletta for a unique walk and visit to the world’s richest church the St. John’s Co-Cathedral. Inside awaits Caravaggio’s largest ever masterpiece! We will also visit the Grand Master’s palace, where the rulers of the Knights lived in majestic splendour. From Valletta we will continue on to the 3 cities area in the Grand Harbour, where we will walk through 3 immensely rich cities surrounded by Baroque bastions, grand churches, amazing views, and idyllic streets.

This tour also includes two optional visits. First is a visit to the per-historic temples of Hagar Qim and Mnajdra, where we can learn of the mysterious connections of neolithic people to astronomy. The second is a shopping detour to Ta’ Qali Crafts Village, situated in an old World War Two airfield, here one can find traditional Maltese souvenirs, such as locally-made silver, renowned from the time of the Romans, Maltese lace, done by hand, a tradition that dates back to the 16th century, and the local glass-works renowned for their style and finesse.

Lunch is not included. Should guests wish to visit museums, kindly note that entrance tickets must be bought directly during the tour.
